The 1999 recipient of the Mental Health Service Provider award for excellence in service to families was Mr. Anthony Collier BSW, Manager of the Peel Community Mental Health Service.

The Minister for Health the Hon. John Day, B.SC, B.D.SC, M.L.A. and ARAFMI President Ms Christina Glazebrook, presented this award at the opening of Mental Health Week on Sunday 17th October 1999.

The award acknowledges outstanding achievement in the area of providing services to families of people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness.

Anthony was nominated by a carer from Mandurah, who felt that his dedication, support and caring above and beyond his duty as a Mental Health Professional were the impetus in the development of many services for families in Mandurah.

This is the second time in three years that the award has been won by a Mental Health Professional from Mandurah.
